Call me picky, but when I go to a Mexican restaurant, I’d like to have tortilla chips and salsa with my tacos. But, at La Esquina Corner Deli I shouldn’t have expected so much. When I asked for chips and salsa with my fish tacos, the waiter looked at me and said, “We don’t have chips and salsa.” Okay, what? So with a little dismay, my dinner companion and I ordered yucca fries with a cream dip to go with our tacos. To their credit, the yucca fries were delicious and the fish tacos were good too ($10 for two, they better be good!). But come on, I’m from California and I grew up on taquerias. You have to have chips and salsa with your meal. If not, it’s like going to a burger place, and having the waiter say to you, “Sorry, but we don’t serve french fries.” No bueno.
