Had drinks at the Standard Hotel a couple of nights ago with a co-worker friend of mine. We were originally going to meet on the Highline, but the weather turned, so I told her to meet me at the Standard’s bar. I’ve been to the Standard in Downtown LA and heard so much about this one with its amazing views of the Hudson River and is situated over the Highline. It was quite the funky hotel, as expected, with a yellow revolving door for the entrance and sleek grey tones for the lobby. Someone I know described it as California cool meets New York urban chic. I don’t know about the California cool part, it felt more New York than anything really. I hear that they’ll be opening a rooftop bar at the end of August. I will definitely be going back to check that out complete with all the scenesters that I’m sure will inhabit it.
